October Book Club: We will be reading Raising Conscious Sons and/or Raising Conscious Daughters by Dr. Shefali this month. You do not have to read both books, but you can if you’d like and are able to. At our book club, we will reflect on and discuss topics from the reading(s) in small and large groups. Participation in the discussion is encouraged but voluntary. It is helpful to talk about these topics with other parents/caregivers so everyone leaves knowing they are not alone in their struggles in parenthood. Together we can grow and support our children better, starting first at home. Light bites and one regular sized drink per participant will be provided.

Your Questions, Answered-
No, you do not have to read both books for October’s book club. It is encouraged to read as much of one book as possible to be able to participate in our small and large group discussions. If you can read both books, that would be great but again not mandatory!
-
Not unless you feel compelled to. You can try to borrow these books from your local library if you don’t want to purchase them.
-
That’s okay. Reading the book(s) will help guide and prepare you for the discussions, but it is also understandable if you are not able to finish it by the day of the event. Another option that has been helpful is listening to the audiobook version if that’s better for you.

I typically gear my book club selections towards books that support mothers, however for October’s book choice and topics, conscious dads and caregivers are also invited and encouraged to participate.
